Personal Year Number Calculator
A Personal Year number is a number from 1 to 9 that numerology assigns to one calendar year of your life, calculated from your birth day, your birth month and the year you are looking at. Choose your birth day and month below. The year is set to 2026, and 2027 is one click away.

What this page is: a plain-English calculator and explanation of how a Personal Year is read in Pythagorean numerology. What it is not: a forecast, a medical or psychological assessment or professional advice. Numerology is not a scientifically validated method; Soul Aura uses it as a structured tool for self-reflection.

The calculation runs in your browser. The script on this page does not send your birthday anywhere and does not save it. The birth year is not needed.
How the Personal Year is calculated
The rule has four steps, and Soul Aura applies the same rule in its reports.
- Reduce the birth day. Add the digits until one digit is left: the 15th gives 1 + 5 = 6, the 29th gives 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2.
- Reduce the birth month. March is 3, October is 1 + 0 = 1, November is 1 + 1 = 2 and December is 1 + 2 = 3.
- Reduce the calendar year. 2026 gives 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. 2027 gives 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2.
- Add the three numbers and reduce once more. The result is always between 1 and 9, because the Personal Year does not keep the Master Numbers 11 and 22.
Worked example: 15 March in 2026 and 2027
The values here come from the Soul Aura engine. A birthday on 15 March reduces to 6 (day) and 3 (month). For 2026 the year reduces to 1, so 6 + 3 + 1 = 10 and the Personal Year is 1. For 2027 the year reduces to 2, so 6 + 3 + 2 = 11 and the Personal Year is 2. A birthday on 14 February follows the same steps and gives 8 for 2026 and 9 for 2027. Because the year number moves up by one each January, every birthday moves up by one step in the cycle, and after 9 comes 1 again.
The nine Personal Year themes
Each number carries a traditional theme. Read the themes as vocabulary for thinking about a year, not as a schedule of events. The same number can be lived very differently by two people.
| Personal Year | Traditional theme | A question to reflect on |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A year of beginnings: new projects, new habits and a clear first step. | What is one thing you would start if you did not need anyone's permission? |
| 2 | A year of patience and partnership: smaller steps, listening and cooperation. | Where could slowing down and listening improve a relationship or a project? |
| 3 | A year of expression: creating, sharing and spending time with other people. | What do you want to say, make or share that you keep postponing? |
| 4 | A year of foundations: routine, paperwork and steady building. | Which habit or system would make the next twelve months easier to carry? |
| 5 | A year of change: movement, flexibility and trying new approaches. | Which change have you been avoiding, and what is the smallest way to test it? |
| 6 | A year of home and responsibility: family, commitments and care. | Which commitments are truly yours to keep, and which did you take on out of habit? |
| 7 | A year of reflection: study, rest and quiet inner work. | What would you understand better if you gave it unhurried time? |
| 8 | A year of results: work, money matters and taking charge of practical goals. | Which practical goal deserves a real plan, with numbers and dates? |
| 9 | A year of completion: finishing, letting go and clearing space. | What is ready to be finished, released or handed on? |
The nine-year cycle
Personal Years run in cycles of nine. Year 1 opens a cycle with a beginning, the middle years build and test it, and year 9 is read as the time to finish and clear space before the next 1. Reading a single year inside the cycle gives it context: a 4 after a 3 and before a 5, for instance, sits between expression and change. If you know your numbers for last year and next year, the three together make a more useful picture than one number alone.
How to use your Personal Year for reflection
- Name the theme. Write the theme of your number at the top of a page and list the areas of life where it already shows up.
- Ask the question. Each number above comes with one question. Answer it in a few sentences and read it again in six months.
- Choose one small action. A theme is easier to use when it becomes one concrete step, such as a first session, a conversation or a tidy-up.
- Keep the limits in view. A Personal Year does not replace advice from a doctor, a lawyer, a financial adviser or a counsellor.
Universal Year 2026 and 2027
The Universal Year is the number of the calendar year itself and is the same for everyone. 2026 adds up to 10 and reduces to 1. 2027 adds up to 11 and reduces to 2; some authors write that as 11/2 and keep the 11. Your Personal Year starts from this shared number and adds your own birth day and month, which is why two people born in different months can be in different Personal Years during the same Universal Year.

A Personal Year describes timing, while your Life Path number describes a long-running theme and your name numbers describe talents and motivation. Frequently asked questions
How do I find my Personal Year number?
Reduce your birth day and your birth month to a single digit, reduce the digits of the calendar year to a single digit, add the three numbers and reduce the total once more. The calculator above shows each of these steps for the day, month and year you choose.
When does a Personal Year start?
This calculator uses the calendar year, from 1 January to 31 December. Some authors start the year on the birthday instead. If your birthday falls late in the year, you may want to read your number for this year and for the next one.
Can a Personal Year be 11 or 22?
Not in this method. The Personal Year is always reduced to a single digit from 1 to 9. Some authors keep 11 or 22 as Personal Year numbers; if you see that elsewhere, it is a difference of convention.
What is a Universal Year?
The Universal Year is the number for the calendar year itself, the same for everyone: the digits of the year, reduced to one digit. It is the third number in the Personal Year sum. Your Personal Year adds your own birth day and birth month to it.
Is the Personal Year a forecast of events?
No. It is a traditional way of naming the theme of a year, offered here as a prompt for reflection and planning. Numerology is not a scientifically validated method, and a number cannot tell you what is going to happen.
